Thorough Testing for Better Results
Many doctors test only IgE or IgG antibodies when looking at food allergies or sensitivities. This is problematic because it is only a small part of the picture and may miss other ways that foods are affecting your health.
Dr. Dana typically tests for IgG, IgG4, IgE and C3d/C3b reactions.
IgE reactions are significant in true allergies. These cause anaphylactic type reactions that people can often experience as itching or trouble breathing, but moderate IgE reactions may be present without patients noticing.
IgG antibodies are the most common type of food sensitivities, and it is common for people with symptoms to have several of these reactions.
IgG4 antibodies have been shown to be associated with autoimmunity. They may increase as your body tries to protect itself against more severe IgE type reactions.
C3d/C3b are markers of the complement system, or the innate immune system. These reactions create severe inflammation when paired with IgG reactions.
Testing all four types of reactions allow us to gauge the severity of your food sensitivities and allergies. She then helps you create a diet plan to help you restore your health and recover from many food sensitivities.
